This book is not just about finding a good therapist. It is about finding a great therapist. The kind of person who will inspire you, challenge you, and change your life. The kind of person who will help you make real progress.

If you are just looking for someone to talk to, this book is not for you. Throw a rock and you will find a mediocre counselor who will gladly take your money, go through the motions of “listening” to you for an hour, week after week, and never encourage you to change. And maybe you don’t want to change. That’s fine. Just check out another book, because this one will only stress you out.

However, if you want to thrive rather than survive, use this book to demystify the often muddled field of psychology.

You will learn

  • How to identify an awesome therapist.

  • How to know if you’ve found a bad one.

  • What to expect from therapy.

  • How to trust yourself.

  • And how to improve your odds of permanent growth.

The author takes her years of “couch surfing,” during which she saw over twenty therapists and coaches, to simplify the process and help you make life changes efficiently and with the support you need.

This short book is jam-packed, full of principles that you can use to feel confident about an often confusing and stressful transition in your life. Make the choice to change your life and find a great therapist.

How to Find a Great Therapist From Surviving to Thriving edition by Kathryn Beal Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

In our modern world of technology and chaos and stress and never ending complexity, therapy is becoming an increasingly appealing option to many people, both young and old, as a way to find themselves and self actualize into the best version they can be.
Psychology however is in it's relative infancy as a science with endless schools of thought, all differing vastly, and each therapist has their own personal flavor added to that, so finding a good one, or rather even being able to distinguish whether they are any good, is a challenge to say the least. Given this, you'd think there'd be some good resources on the topic, or at least some general direction to look in, and yet surprisingly there are essentially none. The author explains herself in the book how she had gone through a number of therapists, and only through rigorous study and unrelenting commitment was she, over the course of years, able to get a handle on this whole crazy thing.

But man, am I sure glad she did! This book is the definitive guide we've been searching for, and will be the first and only thing I would ever suggest to anyone interested in therapy. It's both pleasantly short yet powerfully packed with all you could conceivably need to know on the topic. If you want something straight forward, direct, concise, and endlessly re-readable this is the go to book, hands down. You will find yourself coming back to it all throughout your therapeutic process to check in and make sure you're staying on the ball in your self growth, or get some clarity on some part of the process you've been struggling with.

Interested in therapy but don't know where to start? In therapy but feeling like you're not making the progress you want? Been in therapy for years and aren't sure whether you're "done"? Hell, done with therapy, and want to think "Man I wish I had this book when I started! my life would have been so much easier!" (my situation)? They buy this book!

How to Find a Great Therapist From Surviving to Thriving edition by Kathryn Beal Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

This was an extremely informative and enjoyable to read. It validated many feelings I had about subpar therapists and gave me tips on how to find a great one. It also has key points at the end of each chapter, which I found helpful to look back on for quick reference. It is a short book you can read in a night or two, and then you will feel prepared to get your time and money's worth in your self-knowledge journey. This is an excellent read for people who have never been to therapy but are curious to get started, and for those who have been in therapy for a long time.
Very useful and well thought out content. Quick read.
I picked up this book to understand what I could do more in my sessions. It provided me ideas that I hadn't considered and is an easy read.
What I most enjoyed was the author's ability to communicate "hard to digest" topics in an easy to consume fashion.
I wish I had this book when I first started my search for a therapist years ago. It would have saved me so much time, money and frustration. This book is greatly motivating and a must read regardless of where you are in your therapy journey. I found it especially valuable that the book also delves into how to achieve success in therapy once you've chosen a therapist. If you use the practical tools in this book and take action, your future self will thank you!
"How to Find a Great Therapist", as the title suggests, has everything you need for finding the perfect therapist. Over and over again, I was impressed by the author's thoroughness. From resources listed for where to actually FIND the therapist, to exercises to help you decipher your goals- every step is written about in a crystal clear, richly informative manner.

It is perfect for beginners totally new to the idea of therapy- or for those familiar with the process. The exercises were tremendously helpful to me. Mind mapping was my favorite. After reading this book, I had everything I needed for picking a great therapist. I knew what I wanted and where to find it.

The therapist I chose was impressed with how much clarity I had around what I wanted to get out of therapy. That is entirely due to this book.

Today I had my first appointment and am on a journey to self awareness and living the life I want. This book gave me the tools and the map to get that journey off the ground, and for that I am forever grateful.
When I was in high school I went to therapy due to depression, and while it was a helpful experience, only part of my problems were addressed. Now as a young adult, I realize it would be a great benefit to go back and sort out the problems I am experiencing so that I can know more about myself, make better decisions, and so forth.

A problem I was having was that I wasn't sure if therapy would be helpful, why not just figure it out on my own? In addition to that, I didn't really know how to find a good therapist since my mother found the one when I was a teenager; if I found bad ones, maybe I would be better off on my own!

Fortunately, this book is a great help. You can read it in one day, as it is short and sweet and not filled with unnecessary passages, but I took my time with it and read it over two or three days. To name a few examples of what's in the book, the author covers what therapy is, what to expect from it, what traits a great therapist has, what YOU can bring to the sessions to improve the progress.

Now that I am looking for a therapist, I am referring back to this book in regard to what methods may be best for me, and most importantly at this time I'm referring back to how to make the initial call and what questions to ask and what to look out for.

I know it will help me find a great therapist, and at $0.99, a click away to download, and a quick, concise read, you can't go wrong with this book; it can help you find a great therapist, too!
